If there is anything we know about Hollywood it is that the movie industry is full of copycats. Amid a sea of sequels and facsimiles of movie's it takes a lot for a film company to take a risk. Marvel/Disney took that risk and made one of the most critically acclaimed and successful movie franchises of all time. To take a lesser known character like Iron Man and from that create something this incredible frankly deserves your awe and applause. Yes you hardcore DC fan in the back wearing an Aquaman shirt I am talking to you. And you bet your ass that the good people at Warner Bros have taken notice as well and a Justice League movie will soon follow suite.
But how far down the rabbit hole is DC/WB willing to go? The Green Lantern was produced after Marvel started making their movies yet it followed the same predictable and boring trend that the superhero movies of the 90's and early 00's. Ryan Reynolds was not to blame (surprisingly*) but instead the flick was ruined by lack of story and over reliance on effects. If this is a prediction of what future JLA movies are going to be than a lot of us are going to be very very disappointed. DC needs to copy all of what makes the Marvel movies so great and not just the concept. DC was once the undisputed champion of comics until Marvel started making Spiderman and X-men comics that were not just about powers and villains but instead focus on the humanity of their characters. They gave them character flaws and made them relatable to the public. It stopped being about superman and became about everyman. And Marvel did it again with their Avenger movies and DC must once again copy Marvel and do the same with their movies.
No I am a die hard DC fan. I have Justice League boxers on as I type this so this bashing of DC is because I love them. I would like nothing more than to see a Justice League movie stomp all over an Avengers movie. But that won't happen until DC and WB get their act in gear. a Justice League movie is coming. The question is will it be worth it?
